I just discovered your site. I was an early fan-saw you at the British Hotel in Aylmer,Que. in 1982, then again when you opened for Sabbath at the Landsdowne Park in Ottawa in the summer of 1982, and thirdly opening for Motorhead at Barrymore's in Ottawa in the summer of 1983. Musically, i got away from metal,and now listen to alot of romantic symphony music, as well as progressive rock, and jazz-rock. Lately, i have been returning to my roots, and also listen to Accept,Budgie,Blue Cheer,Sabbath, and UFO. My favourite Exciter album was Violence and Force, and plan on locating a copy! I also remember getting to know a bass player and audio visual technician in the early 1980-s in Ottawa named Dennis who knew Exciter well. All the best for the future!

very first Exciter song, I was hooked. That song was Riders From Darkness. I loved that
song and still do today. I was wondering if it will ever be re-released or is there another

in Europe in 2007. I have finally bought the Kill After Kill CD on Amazon. Fantastic
album. I have all Exciter Albums in my collection. Your guitat playing is brilliant on Kill
After Kill and my favorites are: The Second Coming, Smashing em' Down, Born to Kill. I
really enjoy listening to Kill After Kill together with a cool Southern Comfort drink. (You
had mentioned about the Southern Comfort in one of your messages to me in January. I
now know what it is, great taste. Thanks After Thanks, John :) I am on my International
Assignment and moved with my family to Geneva, Switzerland from Kiev, Ukraine this
summer. If you play somewhere in Europe I will have a far greater chance to see The
Mighty Exciter for the first time in my life. My Boss here in Geneva is a Canadian person

I hope you are all well! A "little" late but straight from my metal-heart: THANKS for the
great show at KIT!!! All the technical problems aside (I think the bands that don't have
them are in minority and can call themselves lucky!) - it was a really energetic
performance and the choice of songs like from my wish-list (even the "Blackwitch" again
:) ). I know, because after spending a quarter or more in the photopit, I joined the crowd
and banged my head 'til the end. :) So thank you immensly for this great time!
It was very cool to meet you again and... Jacques, I will tell this again: it made me really
speachless when you greeted me saying my name - and pronouncing it correctly - after
almost 2 years of no contact at all (while many people whom I meet much more often will
probably never get it right, haha). I also wish I could be as focused as you when you talk
to people at the festivals... but my mind is usually all over the place. :)
Anyway, I got the films from the festival finally developed and scanned, so I'll be sending
you the photos very soon! They are much better than the ones from Berlin 2004. :)

reissue on cd! The actual ep from the 80's came out through Music For Nations, in
Europe, I believe. You can probably track down a used copy on vinyl if you want the cover

Exciter's old classic and new albums are truly loved and treasured by metal fans in the
former Soviet Union (USSR).
It doesn't matter how long more it will take for Exciter to get to Russia or Ukraine WE
WILL PAVE THE WAY AND WAIT FOR YOU! I say: 'the hungrier russians /
ukrainians are the stronger they love metal'. I hope that OSMOSE with their partners will
improve distribution of Exciter cd's in Russia and Ukraine in 2006 where possible as this
is fundamental for any band. I continue to order or buy myself
Exciter cd's when travel to Western Europe.
People here waited for Priest 30 years before they played in Kiev for the first time on
Nov.24 05'. Rob Halford (when I met him, K.K.Downing, Ian Hill personally in
Kiev)talked to me and my brother about channels, magazines, distribution. We told Rob
that it is difficult to find canadian Exciter cd's in particular here and the same was with
Judas Priest cd's couple of years ago.
John, we will always support Exciter the best we can!

IMO an amzing album and I've looked for it on cd for years! I was really taken by

I LOVE New Testament. The songs, while updated for the new times, sound almost like
they did in the old days, and with the same energy and drive that made me a fan of
Violence And Force way back in 1984. "Old School" indeed :)
I just turned 40 and while that's a milestone, I find the resurgence in classic metal bands
stepping up to the plate to let us have it once more is a double blessing!
With guys like you, and Raven and a few other long time bands still bopping out there, it's
easy to see these young un's who think they're the next big thing are gonna still be met
with "Violence And Force" in their bid for Metal supremacy. ;)

It is mind boggling how intense these guys are. Forgive the cliche, but it's pure, unrefined,
unadulterated, undiluted Heavy Metal!! It's the heaviest guitar sound ever! It's like a
syringe of adrenaline straight through the heart! I go into convulsions when they come on!
Heavy Metal Maniac is one of the greatest Metal tunes ever wrritten; it was the only
occasion where I ever felt like starting a mosh pit.

Exciter is one band that has a desire to make heavy metal sound awemsome! Some say
that they have a bad sound. I feel the band has a great blend of fast guitar riffs and
thundering drums. The vocals are incredible. If Exciter comes out with a reunion with its
old members along with its current line up, it will be one hell of a show! Keep the metal
fist high and never let them tell you differently.

wear 2 Exciter patches on my denim jacket which were made at the local Tailor's
Workshop. Both are computer scanned Exciter logo large and small put on high quality
thick fabric by electric embroidery machine. Size and colors turned 100% original and

tour featured Exciter/Black Abyss/Steel Attack, it was an awesome tour and a good time.

I use an early 70s Marshall Super Bass head into 4x12 and 2x15 cabs. This is the rig I
will be using when we record the next CD.
Usually when we play on the road, I have an Ampeg SVT Classic setup provided by the
promoter.
With either rig, I have no problems keeping up with John's volume level!

I've been listening to Exciter since the early days of Metal when I bought Long Live The
Loud on LP around the same time as I bought Kill Em All and Anthrax's Fistful Of
Metal... Long Live The Loud Hit my turntable around midnight and the Apocalyptic
sounding Intro of "Fallout" tuned my ears in a bit to the Bone Crushing Thrasher "Long
Live The Loud"... It was the fastest, knarliest most intense 4 minute introduction to any
new metal band I can remember back then... You see, back in the early 80's when I was
buying new Metal LP's it was always an experiment because it was still new and untried....
I don't care what anybody says... Long Live The Loud paved the way for all other Metal
Bands around Eastern Canada back in the Days when Metal was new and even today...
Whenever I play "Victims Of Sacrifice" for a newbie they always want more.... Long Live
The Loud.....................

Hey DrFunk, My set-up is the same as the 80`s, Marshall JCM
800 heads and 6-4x12 custom made cabs with celestian speakers.My guitar, is a
Washburn A5 model which is also modified,my effects are simple,Boss Metalizer,DD-3
delay and
CE-3 chorus. I find this basic set-up, gives me an agrressive tone, all the new gear out
there, sounds to compressed and saturated, for the sound I need for Exciter.
I think Exciter is a metal institution, we`ve worked hard
all these years to build our profile and get respect, and it
seems that the fans outside Canada are the most dedicated.
Since 1996,with the current line-up of Exciter, we have played shows in the USA many
times,in the near future, there are no USA dates, just keep posted to this site.

Well I see that O.T.T and Better Live Than Dead were remastered and reissued this
week. I saw them at the store today but didn't have enough money to get either of hem.
Can anybody who has them comment on them? Also, I'm just curious about the remasters,
do they have like expanded liner notes on the inside with extra notes, pictures, etc.?
Because I haven't heard anything about that.

John, thanks for the kind words about NY, although I don't think I was even into metal
when you guys were playing here, we're talking '82 or '83, right? Exciter was one of the
first metal bands I started getting into, my friend Ronnie would used to play Wake Up
Screaming on his headphones to put himself to sleep (he meant it in a good way) I myself
must have listened to Born To Die about a billion times! Then I got hold of a cassette of
Heavy Metal Maniac back when it was still being released on Shrapnel and that was it--

Larry,New Testament, is available in the USA and distributed
by The End Records.The Dark Command and Blood of Tyrants are considered imports
from Europe,so they may be harder to get and you may have to order through your local
record store.In the 80`s we played NYC many times, new yorkers, are

when I say the newer Osmose "shit" I don't mean it's actually shit--it's fucking great! No

came out in the early nineties but I figured it was the poser lineup that existed after you
originally left. The newer Osmose shit is not so easy to get here in N.J. although I

Hey guys! I got into Exciter a little while ago and I must say that they rock! Even more
considering they're from my hometown of Ottawa!
I just have a question: when Exciter recorded their first demo, there were two songs,
"World War III" and "Sail On". I've heard WWIII but I REALLY want to hear "Sail
On", as I've heard some people on the internet say they've heard it.

Hello you crazy maniacs from Exciter! The gig you did in Metalcamp Slovenia was just
too fuckin' awesome! Reminded me of the old school times...EXCITER FLAG IS STILL
FLYING ON THE VERY TOP OF METAL SCALE!!! It was stunning, EXCITING and
very good performance....guitar work just shredded man!!! the beast in the back, Rik, was
smashing the drums intensely and pounding them as they should be pounded! he he and
jacques, fuck i mean this guy can really sing a metal song!!! Shrieks, low voice singing,
melody ...these are all no problem for him!! Exciter is metal as it was meant to be, and no
fuck arounds! Guys I worshiped your music, attitude, image before this gig, but now you
have proved that EXCITER is really one of the best things in metal music! Unfortunately
there was no (official) merchandise, I mean no albums (to perfect the Exciter collection),
no clothes,....anyway, John, thanks for the guitar pick.......oh yeah, and the new songs
kicks ass, everything from the titles, to the riffs, vocals, lyrics everything! CHEERS!

our heads at the Balingen Bang Your Head Festival, THANKS. I´m in this f***ing heavy
music for more than twenty years - and this was one of the most powerfull shows I can
remember; although it was veeeery early in the morning and really hot. But you guys did

I love your new album of all the Exciter classics re-recorded (New Testament). I think
they f***ing rule and whoever doesn't dig them needs to go and get some wax cleaned out
of their shitty earholes. They're great!!! You've added a great new sound and meaning to
these old classics. I mean what's the point of re-recording the damn songs sounding
exactly as they did 20 years ago??? This is the point most stupid critics miss to observe.
Love your dedication and great musicianship. Sadly not many good guitarists like yourself
left around anymore.
Anyway... I've accepted the fact that I won't be getting to see you guys playing live 'down

Beats any f***ing metal gig that I've been to, and I've been to a few, that's for sure.
John, you're so true and real in what you do. It's so natural, unlike some other f***ing
posers out their.
I was so pissed when I found out that you were not included in your own re-releases of the
old Exciter stuff. Waters is such a poser and money hungry musician, he puts shame to
the words Heavy Metal. Well hope he chokes on the sales.
I was also so lucky to have some photos of very close shots of you and the band from a
gig in Canada back in 2004. The guy that sent them to me is Canadian himself and gave
me a run down of that gig that he attended and told me how you guys totally rule and that
if anyone hasn't seen you guys play, then needless to say they have not experienced the
true metal feeling from anywhere else. Totally agree after watching the DVD's.

I only got introduced to Exciter recently from the Vengeance drummer Trapezanidis whom I had the pleasure to listen to some personal demo tapes which included Exciter covers. My favourite cover Saxons In The Fire. I was fucking amazed by the power of vocals and thunderous drumming by the Vengeance drummer till I heard the track from Exciter themselves.
